This Privacy Policy explains how MLB ScoutLab ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our website at scout-lab.vip (the "Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge you have read and agree to this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Age Requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. This Service involves content related to sports betting, which is restricted to adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a person under 18 has provided us personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you believe a minor has used this Service, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use the Service, we may collect:

Name — used to personalize your experience
Email address — used to deliver your access code, account recovery, and, if you opt in, occasional updates
4-digit recovery PIN — stored as a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256); we cannot read your PIN in plaintext
Marketing preference — whether you opted in or out of promotional emails at signup
IP address and server logs — collected automatically for security, abuse prevention, and rate-limiting; not linked to your identity for marketing
Browser localStorage — we store your access code locally in your browser to maintain your session; this never leaves your device to our servers after initial login

We do not collect: payment card numbers, bank information, Social Security numbers, government IDs, or any sensitive financial data. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Stripe (see Section 6).

3. How We Use Your Information

To create, authenticate, and manage your account
To deliver your access code and account recovery emails (always sent — transactional)
To send picks, updates, or promotions only if you explicitly opted in
To process subscription payments through Stripe
To prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
To improve and maintain the Service
To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Email Communications

Transactional emails (access code delivery, account recovery, subscription confirmations) are sent regardless of your marketing preference — these are necessary to operate your account.

Marketing emails (picks, promotions, updates) are only sent if you opted in during signup. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You may also opt out at any time via Settings → Account → Marketing Emails, or by emailing [email protected].

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secured servers located in the United States (AWS EC2). We implement reasonable technical and administrative safeguards including access controls, hashed credentials, and server-level security hardening.

Data retention: We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data (name, email, PIN hash) is deleted within 30 days. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, then purged.

No security system is impenetrable. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

6. Payment Processing — Stripe

All subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor. When you subscribe to ScoutLab Pro, you will enter your payment details directly into Stripe's secure checkout interface.

We never receive, store, or have access to your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details
Stripe may collect your name, email, billing address, card details, and device/browser information as needed to process payment and prevent fraud
Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy
Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security certification

We receive from Stripe only: a customer ID, subscription status, and the last 4 digits of your card (for display purposes only). We use this solely to manage your Pro subscription.

7. Other Third-Party Services

The Service also uses the following third-party services. No personal user data is shared with these providers unless noted:

Google AdSense — displays ads to free-tier users. Google may use cookies or device identifiers to serve personalized ads based on your browsing activity. See Google's Privacy Policy and Ad Settings to opt out of personalized ads.
MLB Stats API — provides game and player statistical data. No user data is transmitted.
The Odds API — provides sports betting odds data. No user data is transmitted.
Open-Meteo — provides weather data for game conditions. No user data is transmitted.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Regardless of your location, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

Access — view your stored data in Settings
Correction — update your name, email, PIN, or preferences in Settings
Deletion — delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Account → Delete My Account & Data, or by emailing us
Opt-out of marketing — unsubscribe at any time via email link or Settings
Portability — request a copy of your data by emailing us

9. California Residents — CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

Right to Know — you may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
Right to Delete — you may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
Right to Opt Out of Sale — we do not sell your personal information. This right is already exercised by default.
Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

10. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use tracking cookies or analytics cookies on our own behalf. Your access code is stored in your browser's localStorage (not a cookie) for session continuity. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to third parties by us.

Third-party services (Google AdSense) may set their own cookies. See their respective privacy policies for details. You can disable third-party cookies in your browser settings at any time.

ScoutLab is a statistical analysis tool. It is not a gambling service. We do not facilitate, process, or accept bets. We strongly encourage all users to set personal betting limits and gamble only with money they can afford to lose.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via email (if we have your email on file) or by a prominent notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
